How to Take a Perfect Passport Photo at Home (Phone Camera Guide)

Oct 23, 2026 · VisaPhoto Studio

You do not need a photo studio. A modern phone plus five minutes of care produces more than enough quality.

1. Light

Face a window (daylight, no direct sun). Even front lighting avoids the facial shadows that trigger rejections. Avoid overhead-only light.

2. Distance & framing

Ask someone to shoot (or use a tripod + timer) from about 1.5 meters. Include your head, shoulders and some space above your hair — our aligner needs a little headroom to position the face precisely.

3. Posture & expression

Look straight into the lens, shoulders relaxed, mouth closed. Tilted heads get auto-corrected by our pipeline, but starting level gives the cleanest result.

4. Background

Stand 1–2 meters in front of any plain wall. Our Bria RMBG-1.4 background remover will cut you out and place you on the official background color automatically.

5. After the upload

Preview the aligned result, download the digital file for online submission and print the 600 DPI sheet on 10×15 cm or A4 paper — cut along the dashed lines and you are done.
